I’m pretty sure that all of you have heard about this brain game…”Sudoku”. Everywhere I go, I will see people are so busy struggling to solve sudoku’s problem. Some of the them have already being addicted with this mind-bending puzzle. It really challenges your brain and once you get started as a beginner you will want to complete it as an advanced player. As to myself, I actually first knew about the game when I was on the Qantas plane last year. it has been published monthly in the inflight magazine. At that time, I was not really keen to try to solve since I got stucked for my first time playing it. Only for the last few weeks when my 7 year old niece asked me to teach her how to play sudoku. On that reason, I made the initiative to start to learn about it. I bought a sudoku book and do sudoku exercise almost everyday until yesterday, at last I managed to settle one puzzle.

Sudoku is originally from Japan and in Japanese it means “single number”. This game is incredibly good exercise for your brain everyday. The reason I said that because according to many researches done, when you do sudoku it will challenge your brain capability as it needs you to “learn new tricks”. This will help you prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia as you age. Not only that, it can also make you feel relief from the stress and keep you mentally balanced and socially connected.

How To Solve Sudoku: Basic Steps and Rules

Rule 1: Simply fill in the squares with a number from 1 to 9.

Rule 2: Every column must contain only one of each number from 1 to 9.

Rule 3: Every row must contain only one of each number from 1 to 9.

Rule 4: Every 3×3 box must contain only one of each number from 1 to 9.

If you manage to fulfill all three conditions and fill in all spaces, it means you have succeeded.

Good Things I Have Learned From Sudoku

1. I have become more alert to all available answers of a problem.

2. I have to open my mind to the possibilities around me.

3. I have to consider the options given to solve any problems.

4. I have to be patient and smart and wise in facing difficulties.

5. Not to be so confident of a formula to find answer until I’ve tried other formulas as well.

So far, those are the good things I have learned from playing sudoku. I’ve been more addicted, day by day as I try to solve the puzzle. I suggest all of you to try it too since it is not only good for you but also for all your family members. You can enjoy the game during your free time or while waiting for something (to some people who really hate when you have to wait for someone and something for a long time). Happy trying and good luck in your 1st game!
